Northville-Placid Trail Centennial
Let's Celebrate
My name is Tom Wemett. My trail name for years was the "NPTrail Fanatic". I have section-hiked, thru-hiked and helped maintain the trail many times, which led to my co-founding the Northville-Placid Trail Chapter of ADK (The Adirondack Mountain Club). When discussions came up at ADK and the NPTrail Chapter about celebrating the 90th anniversary of ADK and the trail, I presented a motion to the ADK Board of Directors that the base year for celebrating ADK's formation should be 1922 but that the base year for celebrating the NPTrail should be the year it was completed, which was in 1924. The motion was presented and passed and the 90th anniversary of ADK, the club, was celebrated in 2012 and the 90th anniversary of the Northville-Placid Trail was celebrated in 2014.
The Northville Placid Trail turned 100 in 2024. I felt that something special should be done to celebrate the NPTrail centennial and commissioned the design and printing of a Northville-Placid Trail Centennial Limited Edition Commemorative Print. Only 100 will be printed. They will be numbered and signed by artist Alan James Robinson. They are poster-size (24" x 36") and museum quality, using archival paper and ink.The price is $40 each plus $11 handling and shipping via USPS in the continental US.
